There is a quiet confidence to Tree, No. 1. A single tree stands against an expansive horizon, its form held in broad, painterly brushstrokes that reveal expressive texture and layered colour. Rather than filling the composition with detail, the painting embraces restraint, allowing space, light and atmosphere to do much of the work.
Inspired by the timeless character of vintage landscape paintings, the piece balances softness with structure. Layers of muted greens, ochres and weathered neutrals create depth without heaviness, while expressive brushwork gives the artwork the richness and presence of an original oil painting
